Golf Pride® Goes Wild for Wellness by Supporting Operation Healthy Kids

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. …Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation had several employees volunteer in the Wild About Wellness event for children. In addition to year round support of the Operation Healthy Kids, this event was the finale of a yearlong program that focuses on teaching kids about health and wellness through classroom learning. During the event, approximately 550 kindergarteners, representing all seven local elementary schools, participated in 26 separate stations. Golf Pride’s station focused on introducing the game of golf and its healthy benefits. Through Operation healthy kids, all Richmond Country elementary school teachers have been trained on health and wellness. The program started in 2004 and to date children in grades kindergarten through 3rd grade have a prevailing obesity rate of 25 percent or lower with a strong positive trend for normal weight and a declining trend for obesity. The prevalence of obesity in the overall North Carolina population is 30.1 percent. The program is having a positive impact!
