Benefits of Regripping Your Clubs

Grips Are a Game Changer

Why Should I Regrip?

Fresh grips improve control and consistency, yet only 20% of golfers regrip annually. Replacing grips roughly every 40 rounds helps maintain optimal performance so you can stay at the top of your game.

Gain Confidence and Control with Fresh Grips

With worn grips causing slipping and loss of tackiness, golfers often overcompensate by gripping too hard, leading to mis-hits. New grips enhance traction and control, restoring confidence in your swing and maximizing your performance on the course.

Improve Your Accuracy and Consistency

A recent study showed that those who use worn grips are less accurate than those who use fresh grips. A new grip can decrease your dispersion rate by 10-15%, which means more accuracy and consistency swing after swing.*

Hit the ball further

A recent study showed us golfers gain an average of 2.3 yards of extra distance with new vs worn grips.* New grips can be the difference between putting for birdie or coming up short in a greenside bunker.

Increase your ball speed

According to a recent study, players using new grips achieved an average ball speed of 1.3 mph faster than those using worn grips.* An increase in ball speed translates to longer drives and approach shots to the green. Get more out of every shot with fresh grips.

Regripping Frequently Asked Questions

Fresh grips provide better control and consistency, but these benefits fade as grips wear down through use and exposure to oils, dirt, and weather. Most golfers should regrip at least once per year to maintain optimal performance. Players in hot or humid climates may need to regrip more frequently as conditions accelerate grip deterioration. Check your grips monthly for shine, slickness, or hardening - these are signs that performance is already compromised.

New grips immediately improve your connection to the club, allowing for lighter grip pressure and better clubface control through impact. The improved tackiness and cushioning of fresh grips reduces hand fatigue, especially noticeable during the back nine when tired hands typically affect scoring. After regripping your clubs, wait at least 4 hours before playing or practicing to ensure the grips are fully set and secure.  Playing too soon can cause the grips to twist or slip, which may affect your swing and compromise both safety and performance.

Worn grips force you to squeeze harder, creating tension that restricts your swing and reduces clubhead speed. When grips become slick or hard, you're compensating with swing changes that become bad habits. Regular regripping maintains consistent feel and performance for far less than buying new clubs.

New grips usually cost $7–$15 each, with professional installation adding another $1–$4 per club; if you prefer to do it yourself, a one-time investment of about $20 covers the materials needed for DIY grip installation.
