Golf Pride® Grips, #1 golf grip brand worldwide, aims to further strengthen our product innovation team, and the global brand, with the assistance of an experienced and passionate Global Engineering Centers of Excellence (COE) Manager. The Global Engineering COE Manager is the leader of all work process and systems’ improvement efforts across the Global Innovation Team.  The Global Engineering COE Manager collaborates closely with both Product Managers and Project engineers to deliver new products into the hands of golfers.  Product Managers and Project Engineers focus on delivering to external customers (consumers & OEM customers), while your COE Teams focus on delivering to internal customers (Project Engineers & Operations) to get projects and programs done as efficiently as possible.  Your role, as leader of our Centers of Excellence structure, is to reduce internal friction to deliver quality new products to golfers on time. Looking for an Engineering “all-purpose athlete” who brings some materials’ science expertise and experience.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $120075.03 – $176110.04 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. What you’ll do:

This individual will be responsible for leading all technical engineering resources that combine to make up our 3 Primary Centers of Excellence: 1) Materials 2) Design and 3) Process. Those COEs have team members in four sites around the world including the Pinehurst Global Innovation Center, Golf Pride factories in Taiwan and Thailand and Eaton Engineering Center in Pune, India. You will be responsible for developing the vision for our newly formed COEs and aligning that vision with the 2030 Golf Pride business strategy and vision. Every single day you will be working with dozens of team members around the globe to build supporting processes, systems and tools to execute against that vision. In this role, you will have 3 direct reports (Materials, Design, Process) and a number of dotted line reporting relationships.


Essential Functions:

  • Increase speed, reliability and efficiency of our new product development work.
  • Continuous improvement across all new product development lines of effort. 
  • Begin with the end-user in mind and work all solutions with that person in mind whether it be a golfer, external trade customer or internal customer like a program manager or project engineer.
  • Single point of accountability for leading COEs to support fast, predictable and sustainable global product development (speed to market from idea to product on shelf, on-time delivery, % rework, etc…)
  • Position organization to bring new to world Retail (e.g. Dick’s Sporting Goods and PGA Tour SuperStore) products to market every single year reliably putting performance equipment in the hands of golfers around the world. 
  • Support project and development engineers on 20-40 new product programs annually for our OEM customers like Callaway, TaylorMade, Titleist, etc.
  • Develop COE leaders and teams that have a shared vision, common standard, communicate well and operate independently.
  • The most technically connected global leader in the organization that is the primary “fit up” with factory leadership teams both in Innovation and Operations (e.g. Manufacturing Engineering).
  • Build out an effective architecture for Knowledge Management across the enterprise as it relates to product development (documentation, change control, data maintenance/interrogation)

Basic qualifications: 

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Chemistry or Materials/Polymer Science.
  • 5+ years of product development engineering experience.
  • Solid understanding of polymer development and characterization.
  • 2+ years’ experience managing others.
  • Willing to relocate to Pinehurst, North Carolina
  • Ability to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 years’ experience with polymer-based materials development in an R&D setting with proven track record of developing product that gets results.
  • 5 years’ experience as a project engineer (generalist).
  • Familiarity with DFMEA and PFMEA work processes.
  • Manufacturing environment experience as well as working with R&D teams.

Position Criteria: 

  • Desire to travel up to 25% domestic and internationally.
