Michael Breed:
Here's how this works. You have the club, you have your knife, knife has a blade. The blade that I have has a hook on it, okay? What you're gonna do is you're gonna hold this thing, you're gonna push away from you. So you're gonna move this through the grip just like this, and slice that grip off just like that. When you do that, grip comes off just like that.
Now there's some tape. Pull out our heat gun, and then with this we're just gonna heat this up. I'm not gonna heat it up, but you heat it up just like that. You now have a club that is ready to commence the regripping process.
So we put this in the vice. Now the key to this is when you put this in the vice you have to pay attention to the club head. I want that to be perpendicular to the ground. Now we gotta measure up the tape that we're gonna use. So you pull that out just like this, measure that up, and what I want to is I want to give myself just about a half an inch. We hook it up like that. Now that goes down.
Now what we're gonna do is we're gonna give ourselves just a little bit of room on the end, just like that. And before I make this wrap all the way around, I'm gonna make sure there's no tape showing at the end of the grip. So you get that like that, and then we wrap this around just like that, always working up that club shaft like that.
Now what's gonna happen here is I'm gonna have a little bit of tape left over. That's what you want. We're gonna twist this like this and then cover the back of that like that.
Now we're getting close. Now it's solvent time. This is where your bib is gonna come in really handy and also our towel. So you got a little hole right there in the grip. So we're gonna make sure that we take our finger and put it over that hole, because what we want to do is we want to put solvent into the grip. And I'm a big fan of using more than less. So we squeeze that in there just like that. Then I'm gonna just put a little on here just like that, so we get that a little bit. Then we're gonna shake this up. Dancing is optional. Kinda get into a little Twist if you want to, no big deal. This is your gripping and nobody's around you, okay?
Then after that what you do is you let this just kinda pour out of the butt end of the grip. And I like to try to do it so I can get there twice. Then we're gonna pinch the mouth, and when we pinch that mouth ... Pinch the mouth, and now we're going in. Slide it up just like that. Now we've got that grip on there.
Now we gotta check and make sure of two things. One, that we haven't stretched it out. And that's pretty good. It's only a little bit shy, and you're gonna see how I'm gonna get that done.
Then, got our towel, we're gonna regrip that. The bib comes in handy in case that stuff comes out and hits you. You don't want to mess up your nice clothes. That's why you have a bib. Then when you're done with this, what you like to do is put this down on the ground and just verify that these dots are all in a line just like that. It feels good. And now what I like to do is just hit that on the bottom and make sure that that is firmly into that grip.
Now you're gonna check again and make sure, probably have about ... I'm gonna say you got about ten minutes before that's gonna dry. That's gonna depend on the solvent.
Now make sure that's clean. Then we're gonna verify. Look at that. Look at what Daddy did right there. It's just a little bit longer; that will tend to happen. You want to see that? Let me just show you that again. You see that right there? That's just a little bit longer, so that was really well done. Your hands are gonna be really happy because now we've got a grip that's on there right. Give it ten minutes to dry, and you're gonna be all set.
That's how you're gonna regrip a club.
