Check Your Grips for Wear

At the end of the day, grips do wear out, and nothing improves your game like a fresh set. At least once a year, make sure you check your grips for signs of wear or consult our wear guide.

Store Your Grips Correctly

Store your clubs in a cool dry place away from sunlight. A basement, closet, or climate-controlled garage is ideal for storage.

Tips for Maintaining Clean Grips

Clean between rounds Thoroughly cleaning your grips between rounds with a soft brush, soap and water will help ensure they stay fresh for longer.
Keep your hands clean Ensuring your hands are free of dirt and oils during play will help your grips perform best. Wipe your hands with water and a clean towel to prevent residue transfer to your grips.
Dry your grips thoroughly Moisture is the enemy when it comes to keeping your grips feeling new. Dry them off thoroughly after washing or during a wet game.
Shield your grips from UV Long sun exposure and heat are damaging to your grips. Try to keep your clubs shaded or in your golf bag when not in use to protect them from damage over time.

Check your equipment

After your last round, take a moment to assess your gear. If your equipment is looking worse for the wear, make a list for what you need to get new for the next season. Look for:

  • Fading or wear in your grips
  • Loose or bent clubs
  • Chips and nicks in your gear
  • Cracked leather or frayed bag
  • Broken tees and balls

  • Remove any liquids or snacks from your bag

Clean your gear

Use the guide above to thoroughly clean your grips and clubs during and after each game. Use a vacuum to clean out your bag, if it’s leather, give it a polish to keep it from cracking. If you are not able to get a thorough clean on your gear, it might be a sign of wear and time to replace your equipment.
